The Italian American Heritage Festival of Iowa, “VIVA L’ITALIA” will take place on July 28th and 29th, 2017 at the Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines.
The festival gates will be open at the following times:
Friday, July 28: 11:00 am until 1:00 am Saturday morning.
Saturday, July 29: 10:00 am until 1:00 am Sunday morning.
Admission to the festival is free before 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday with a food/monetary donation to the Food Bank of Iowa. After 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, a $5.00 admission (for adults and children 12 and older) will be charged.
The Italian American Heritage Festival of Iowa will take place at the Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines. The park is bordered by 12th and 13th Streets and Locust and Grand Avenues.

Portable restroom facilities are located throughout the festival grounds.
The Festival has 24-hour security on-site. A security officer can be located at all Festival entrances, each beverage tent, and throughout the grounds.
Festival Guest Policies
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all Italian-American Heritage Festival attendees, please observe the following rules:
No outside beverages are allowed within the Festival site. For safety reasons, glass bottles are prohibited within the Festival site.
Alcoholic beverages are sold within the Festival site to patrons 21-years and older presenting valid identification. State laws and regulations require that alcoholic beverages purchased at the Festival remain on-site. On-site security will ask you to dispose of any alcoholic beverages before you exit or enter.
Smoking is not permitted inside any structure or in any seating area on the Italian-American Festival grounds.
Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, large signs and placards which may endanger or inconvenience the public attending the Festival are prohibited on-site.
The Italian-American Heritage Festival reserves the right to decline admittance to anyone who violates the reasonable policies established for public safety or to restrict activities such as public address to designated areas.
All packages are subject to search.
Pets are forbidden for the safety of the pet due to the heat and the number of people. Be kind to your pets – leave them at home when you visit the Festival. Seeing-eye dogs are allowed on site, per city regulations.
